  • Slough Studios is 41KM south of Golden BC, or 59KM north of Radium on highway 95. Groceries and other shopping is easily found in Golden as well as a fabulous book store, bakery, sporting goods store, local brewery, art gallery and small museum. A farmers market is held on Wednesdays in Golden. Parson is the closest hamlet to Slough Studios (8KM) featuring the Twig&Berry where you can purchase fuel, amazing take out, fuel, and alcohol. Beeland is an establishment that offers a wide range of gourmet foods and BC wines, located at Spillimacheen, 25KM south of Slough Studios.

How does someone apply?

  • An interested creative or retreat seeker should complete the contact information and submit a letter of intention-what they would like to research or accomplish at Slough Studios. This provides valuable information to assist our team with helping to create a tailored and optimal experience for the individual applying. Applications are received on a rolling basis for one and two-week residencies commencing on Mondays at 4PM and finishing on Sundays at 10AM.

When are the community workshops?

  • Saturdays 10AM-2PM.

Where do residents stay while at Slough Studios?

  • Applicants may request accommodation in the A-Frame, Bunk House, the Main Cabin-single bedroom, or for special consideration a family can request two rooms in the main cabin with additional cost.

How much dose it cost?

  • Residents are charged 600$, single occupancy for one week and 1200$ single occupancy, for two week terms.

What does this fee provide?

  • This fee includes a beautiful accommodation, private and shared work spaces, access to 73 acres of mountain landscape, use of Slough Studios kayaks, arts research programming, access to the studio work space and finally, we provide dinner on Monday evenings to meet and greet each other and again on Saturdays to share in gratitude for the experiences we have had. Based on each residents goals as outlined in their letter of intent, we hope to generate specific experiences for the artist that will enhance their stay at Slough Studios.

What is the resident responsible for?

  • Each resident is responsible for their own transportation to the studio as well as all meals with the exception of the dinners on Mondays and Saturdays where it is hoped all of us will dine together. The artist should bring their own art supplies. Residents are responsible for sharing their knowledge, skills or learnings with community through community workshops held on Saturdays at the end of the residency. This will be facilitated by our staff and hopes to uphold our mission of generating opportunities of reciprocity.
